Schooling Highlights {Sept. 2011}

Our 2011-2012 school year is well underway, so I wanted to share a few of our favorite things ... Logan's favorites have been "searching for food in the sand like a bird" and creating a compass rose on the floor.  He is learning some new skills this year such as dictation, notebooking, and vocabulary and is working really well.  He has surprised me with how much he enjoys the poetry and the hymns.  We've enjoyed searching youtube for various versions of the hymns and this is our favorite for Holy, Holy, Holy.

Connor has recently finished the Early Reader's Bible and is enjoying some cute readers such as Floss, Uncle Elephant, The Fire Cat, etc.  He began spelling this year and he requests to jump with each letter of the word he spells!  His favorite activity so far has been setting up the last supper Jesus had with his disciples.

Char is reviewing the first five letters of the alphabet and is continuing to call them numbers rather than letters!  She loves the hands-on crafty stuff, songs and games such as "hiding the letters" or making large shapes on the floor with masking tape.  She is currently on a mission to read everything Curious George ...
Thanks Heart of Dakota and Teach Me Joy for wonderful Christ-centered curriculums ... our school year wouldn't be the same without you!

    Many blessings,

  3. I love the hymn Holy, Holy, Holy. And on another note, that 180 video in your sidebar...a MUST SEE IMO. I watched that a few weeks ago and thought it was very thought-provoking.

  4. @Kristie
    I agree; it's definitely a must see. I had the opportunity to watch it with a group of teen girls followed by a great discussion.

    Oh, and I love the "Evanator" nickname!
